The initial concepts

The aim of this project was to take a plain backyard and turn it into a private entertaining area that connected seamlessly to the home. The homeowners wanted a space that worked both day and night, complete with practical features and modern finishes.

The build process

• Excavated and removed earth to allow room for a strong subframe
• Extended the existing house deck into the new pergola area
• Built a freestanding pergola with v-joint panel ceiling and Colorbond roof
• Installed downlights, ceiling fan, and a drop-down TV mount
• Added deck and garden lighting to extend usability into the evening
• Completed the space with a full privacy screen around the pergola

The outcome

The result is a modern outdoor retreat designed for entertaining. The new deck and pergola provide plenty of room for lounging and dining, while the lighting, fan, and TV mount add comfort and functionality. The privacy screen and surrounding landscaping finish the space beautifully, creating a backyard the owners can enjoy all year round.
